UMobile And It’s So Called Glory

This is the story about another telco player in Malaysia. Do you know Vincent Tan? He is successfully buying big businesses and continue running the business and make a good profit out of it.

Try looking at another perspective. Berjaya Holdings Berhad, as the holding company owned the UMobile Sdn Bhd(or whatever you want to call it) formerly known as MiTV Sdn Bhd. Berjaya owned the Times Square. So try seeing at the other perspective. How about the Times Square, is it success? From the bird’s eye on daily life, you can clearly see Berjaya Times Square is not a big success. Why? Ask Vincent about it.

Do You Trust in Umobile?

If me, I don’t trust the brand as it’s very new. I love history and I would learn from it. According to the business model introduced by Berjaya or Vincent, this business will go down later on. I don’t simply said but this is the truth that I collected from other blogs too. (It’s a public domain material).

Kuala Lumpur – U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 3G service provider today announced that it has just broke the 100,000 subscribers mark spurred on by positive consumer response to its recently launched prepaid and postpaid plans earlier this month.

Congratulations U Mobile as you hit the 100,000 subscribers. But to achieve that kind of statistic is not that hard. You don’t have to be the best telco with the best services. The secret lies beneath is about the “FREE SIMCARD” “INSTANT ACTIVATION”.

I’m so sorry to tell you this. According to the surveys (my own) on the forums/local forums, 80% people used their services will not continue using it. Their respective agents are the total liars. Want to read some:

Ni adalah emel dari seorang kawan yg x puas ati tu laa..
so i just nak share dgn korang sumer kat sini ..mane tau ade yg dah terkene same kes dgn dia nih kan …
Begini al-kisahnyer…

” Just nak bagitau jer kat sini pasal U Mobile 018 tu lah.
Yang skang ni sibuk buat iklan kat tv. Bulan May lepas aku gi jenjalan lah kat
Gombak. Akupun singgahlah kat satu kedai hp ni sbb nak tengok2 handset.. Akupun
ternampaklah poster U Mobile ni.

So, aku pun courious sangatlah nak tau amendenyer U Mobile ni. Toke nipun
bercerita pendeklah kat aku.
1. Takde access fee. (yuran bulanan)
2. Monthly charges RM38/mth (minimum)/ Maksudnya kalau guna lebih dr RM38, kena
bayar lebihlah.
3. Charges dikirakan berdasarkan per saat. Bukannya per minit.
4. Call charges dan sms flat rate ke semua operator.
5. Selagi tak activate, tak payah bayar.
6. 2 bulan free access untuk broadband.

Itu jer lah citernya.

Aku pun memanglah berminat sebab aku pun suka bergayut.Kira murahlah sikit
berbanding Minute Plan Celcom yang aku guna skang ni.

Aku pun daftarlah. Sorang blh daftar 2 no walaupun nama blacklisted.(Nampak sgt
co. ni terdesak sgt nak kan bisnes)

Selepas 24 jam aku pun cubalah sim kad U Mobile 018 ni. Maklumlah nak try.
Malangnya tak jugak ada line.

Aku pun naik fed-up lah.

Masuk hari ke 3 aku call cust. service utk check. Malangnya aku diberitahu
bahwa U Mobile 018 ni hanya untuk 3G handset sahaja. Akupun benganglah. Apesal agent tu tak bagitau kat aku pasal ni. Hdset aku mana boleh akses 3G.

So, akupun simpan jerlah sim kad tu buat ***** pasal tak boleh nak activate.
Agent tu kata selagi tak activate tak payah bayar.Tiba-tiba hari ni 13/8/2008
aku terima bil dari U Mobile 018 untuk bulan May 2008 berjumlah RM 45.15. Aku
daftar 2 nombor so kalilah 2.

Lagi aku tension. Aku call lagi cust service nak tanya kenapa aku perlu bayar
untuk benda yang aku tak guna.

Jawabnya itu commitment aku pasal aku dah mendaftar dengannya. Lagipun aku tak
terminate lagi no. tuh!

Hidup2 aku kena tipu dengan agen dia ni. ******* sungguh..!

Itu baru bil utk bulan May. Bermakna bil untuk bulan Jun, Julai dan Ogos akan
menyusul kemudian selagi aku tak terminate line ni. Memang barua U Mobile
Dia pun merungut
sakan..!

Masalahnya lagi tempat nak membayarnya pulak tu dia kat Time Square ngan Sunway
Pyramid jer. Adoii.. lagilah pening.!!

Apa nak buat..! Dah terkena, terima jer lah.

RM 45.15 x 2 x 4 = RM 361.20

(Perlukah aku membayar untuk perkhidmatan yg aku tak gunakan?)
Tak habis2 kena tipu dalam hidup ni.!”

so mcm mana lak nga motto die.. bayar untuk apa yg anda perlu sahaja..huhuh..
xleh pakai punya motto

Bak kata pepatah, biar kalah membeli, asal menang memakai. Walau plan CEP sedikit mahal dari U Mobile, tapi bagi aku, Celcom lagi bagus sebab mereka ni dah kukuh. Tak sama mcm U Mobile yg tersangat masih baru.

So, pakailah Celcom.

Pasal perlu bayar ke tak tu, ermm, kalau kau dah sign agreement, aku rasa tak boleh nak buat apa2 dah. Tapi, cubalah report kat pihak berkuasa dengan alasan kau tak guna pun sebab coverage yg teruk. Kalau streamyx, dia akan potong yg mana kita tak guna.

Lawan tetap lawan.

same kes dgn aku n member aku… aku apply sbb tertarik dgn RM38/monthly & TAK PERLU BAYAR JIKA TAK AKTIFKAN LAGI, sebut macha tu…

dealer macha offer mase time awal2 promotion dari restoren ke restoren. so, aku apply jela… sehingga sekarang aku tak gune pun sim card tuh, tak kopek pun lagi sim tuh dari kad tuh.. tgok2 smalam dapat bil same cam ko….panas btol aku…

aku search kat forum lain psl kes ni, ramai gak kene. tp dengar ade org ckp klau kad tak gune lagi, boleh terminate camtu je.. so, esok aku nk g sunway pyramid tanye cammane…

type kat google “umobile suck” bnyk org bincng

klan kat tv cam bagus jek…slogan…MENGAPA BAYAR LEBIH….konon boleh mintak teh tarik separuh gelas…nak buat henna boleh dua jari je…tp bila dpt bill…3 hari saja guna…kena bayar penuh utk sebulan! aku amik plan u38…ingat bayar rm38 je….tp ada plak tambahan rm5 utk itemised bill…dah jd rm43….lom campur cukai lagi 2%….semua sekali RM45.15 utk 3 hari!

kalau aku dok gayut sakan 3 hari tu tak pa la gak aku bayar…ni aku simpan je simcard dia…tak pernah on pon kat henset. sbb aku tau aku dah tersilap amik simcard yg kononnya ‘free’ ni…so awal bulan jun tu aku terus terminate kan simcard ni…nak terminate pon bukan leh call je…kene pi opis dia kat time square tu….time pegi tu ingat tak kena bayar apa…n kalau kena bayar pon…dlm rm5-rm10 boleh la terima…ini sampai rm45 utk 3 hari punya bil!

UMobile Suck

i got the “limited service” problem all the time. i thought that it’s a network issue so i tried the service with other modems and guess what, no such problem. i think it’s rather the supplied modem that’s just not so good. so in my case, every time i get the “limited service” problem, i just switch to my motorola 3g phone and use it as a modem. else you can try other modems too.

anyway, calls to the customer service center would probably just raise ur blood pressure. everytime i call them they would give me different answers and 1 guy have the guts to tell me that my area is not in their coverage area. i mean how can u not be in the coverage area when you’re getting full far?

I’m thinking of trying this u-mobile…but RM78 with 24 months contract AND a RM799 penalty is ridiculous. You can buy those modem for RM400 outside.

Furtheremore, what if it sucks after 1 month?? Pretty dangerous…like signing up with the devil…furtheremore, no confidence in Vincent Tan ventures…all half hearted job, like MITV, day 1 it launched with those crappy free to air satellite channels i knew it’s going to die. I was right.

But i was thinking of signing of the U38 voice plan…can get 2 months free surfing…is it really “free” or do you have to pay?? Anyone tried?

Ok done with it. I will continue with the next post later.

UMobile Website Takes Forever To Load

I am using the Streamyx with a 2Mb download with 512kb upload connection with a AMD Phenom desktop pc. The website takes forever to load. I hate to open the website actually. It doesn’t look corporate at all. Not that funky like what they think. I don’t know which advertising agency that they hire to do the worst job.

The website is not friendly and it’s hard to surf their site. I did surf the site for an hour a day for the rest of last week. I’m really disappointed with their site. The old uncle, CEO :Mr. Oh Kwang-Jin talk like a kids. Staggering videos even I waited until the video is fully loaded.

We don’t want to see these people talking. What we want is the clean, fast loading site with a good navigation. U Mobile will going no where with this kind of website. If you are promoting the video site, don’t host the site with your super duper slow connection. Do a better colocation.

Ip Range For U Mobile

123.136.96.0 - 123.136.127.255

I don’t know what are the engineer doing behind the scene. Please improve the website and please upgrade the service if you like to capture the entire teenager market. These market segment is the most active users.

Quick Recap On U Mobile Rates

Prepaid : RM0.48 sen/minute

Postpaid : From RM0.12 sen/minute

So better stick with your current provider either Digi, Maxis or Celcom. I do hope that UMobile release their raya commercials too if they wanted to fight head to head with their super competitor. Anyway, if you have anything that dissapoint you about uMobile, please share it here. Adios
