Just want to make some flashback on the unsung hero, Josh Lim. Most of the bloggers now which are new to this industry will never heard of this story before. I’m really sure that you know this ads :

This is a great advertising campaign which has pulled out $8 million USD and being ran through three Asean countries namely Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Just ran through the Josh Lim sites which were hosted by their shareholder if I’m not wrong. It’s a XXXXX XXX XXX (taken from domaintools.com). XXXXX is the man behind the Josh Lim Associates.

What is the relationship between XXXXX and Josh? If you really do your homework on the Advertlets.com.my and Advertlets.com you will noticed that 3 different entity which holds the three different domains with same modus operandi.

Ok forget about it, I will elaborate it in detail later on. Never bother about Advertlets anyway until they settled my disputes.

Who Is The Real Adam King?

2002, Josh made one big joke again. He registered the domain : www.whoisadamking.com after three days Guiness launched their campaign for Adam King. Pretty smart moves anyway Josh. He made himself a public figure that particular month but end up as a joker popular again. He loves publicity and he loves to be a public figure.

As at press time, Guinness’ legal department is “looking at the possibility of initiating legal action against the site creator for wrongful use of its trademark,” according to Ng.

Joker Josh replied :

“It cost me only RM60 (US$16) to register the domain name, and the whole registration process took only hours,” said Lim. He believes that Guinness should have registered all Adam King related domain names in the first place.

Lim also claimed that the Adam King name is not copyrighted and that it should not be because there could be real people with that name.

He is surprised that he has heard very little from Guinness Malaysia and said that he has only received a warning via e-mail by Guinness’ Adam King, claiming that the beverage company “would be initiating charges of fraud, impersonation, infringement of copyright, and wrongful use of a trademark” against him.

“I’m really interested to find out what they can do to me, and I would like to know why they can’t communicate with me in a more official manner,” Lim said in an interview.

“You cannot ignore your Web presence, and I feel that this could’ve been worse since some other parties might have used the site in a more harmful manner,” he added.

Nice moved Josh. Regarding the downtime issues for the Advertlets server and services I would love to point this to Advertlets Sdn Bhd to ensure that they will never forget the important of the domain name as what Josh said regarding the WhoisAdamKing.com issues :

To put things in perspective, it would only cost $15, or RM60 to register a domain name. A high-end, interactive site would probably cost about RM10,000. It is easily affordable to spend a small amount for the domains, and have left over for ordering alternative domains such as iamadamking.com - which is quite standard practice, if not common sense.

This domain, and its ownership, stands as a testament to the fact that much more could have been done.

The domain returned to the real AdamKing - Guinness after complaint and claimed by the real owner of the trademark. Guinness filed the claim on the Dec 11th, 2002 and the case being heard on January 24th, 2003. Josh returned the two domain : thisisadamking.com and whoisadamking.com. You have lost !

I think renewing domain names are equally as important!

Josh is obviously not walking the talk.
