Sultan Ahmad Shah have a good point now. He said that negative influences can be prevent by using the varsities as the medium. It can happen but the effectiveness is a no no.. Parents should have taken this seriously as they involved with the kids since they were small..
Sultan Ahmad Shah of Pahang today said that negative influences can cripple the minds of youngsters and expressed hope that the setting up of higher learning institutions will assist efforts in eradicating them.
“What worries me today is that after 50 years of independence, we are still colonised by the western world with various problems and social ills through the media technology which can influence and cripple the minds of the younger generation.”
He said this when opening the 50th Merdeka Colloquium: Future Challenges at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) here.
His Majesty, who is IIUM Constitution Head, said joint efforts by educationists with their knowledge in science and psychology and parents with their love and care, coupled with efficacious religious practices, could bring the young back on a better track of life.
He also urged young students to prepare themselves with an adventurous spirit and focus on lifting up the civilisation and strengthening and dignifying the nation’s image together.
