One of the most powerful link building tools built into the Wordpress Blogging platform is the Trackback facility.

All of us looking for maximum traffic flow to our websites know that building quality one way links to our blogs is vital. Building links for high PR quality authority sites is something we all strive for. Trackbacks allow us to achieve all our backlinking goals.

Here is what I do at least once a day.

• Google a search term which is related to something I am working on at the time. I might be searching for information on cat diets, so I use the search term “cat diets+blog”. Most of the results will be blogs. So i start browsing each blog until I find one that has a great page rank(PR3 or better)
• Once I have decided on a particular blog, I will go through the articles on that blog that are related to my search term “cat diets”. Once I find an article on the blog with at least a Page rank of 3, I then find the trackback url, which is usually on a wordpress blog down near the comments box.
• Now I open my own Wordpress blog and begine to write a short review about the blog I found and how much I enjoyed the article they had on “cat diets”.
• At the end of the article I find the trackback form and copy the trackback url found on the blog.
• I save the article and go back to the cat diet blog. I want to also add a comment on how much I enjoyed the article and inform them that i wrote a short review and added a trackback.
• Because trackback are pinged, the owner of the site you just wrote the review for will be alerted of the ping and will view it, hopefully returning the favour for you.

So as you can see, using trackbacks can be a very powerful tool to attract oneway links to your website.
